To Be a Woman

to-be-a-woman

Dear Women,

Do you ever wonder, in this day and age, what it means to be a woman? Does the urge to prove yourself battle inside you with the yearning to be cherished and protected? Do you ponder what the worth of being a wife and mother is? Are you tempted to reveal more and more of your body so you will be noticed? Do you find yourself behaving in a brash, bold, careless, and seductive manner because the world applauds this?

I struggle with some of these things. I long to be a lady in a world where chivalry is mocked. But because of that mockery, I sometimes stop believing in true womanhood, and instead wonder if I should act differently to feel good about myself.

But we have to stop and consider truth. True is that we live in a fallen world that more often leads astray than not. Truth is the Word of God.

1 Peter 3:3-4

Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

Proverbs 31:10-11

10 Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;

Proverbs 31:28-31

28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.

Truth is, womanhood is an extremely beautiful calling. God designed and purposed it. It is different than manhood, but every bit as honorable. God made man and woman differently, but also to compliment the other.

The calling of a wife and a mother is so worthy, it’s not to be looked down upon – she is worth far more than rubies. The gentle and quiet spirit of a woman is precious in the sight of God. A woman who fears the Lord shall be praised.

I believe that God has a unique purpose and design for women. Instead of being dragged down by what the world says, open your heart to what God is saying.

You are loved. You are cherished. You are beautiful. You are valuable. You are seen. Your life has meaning. Your touch is unique. Your worth is not your outward appearance. You can make a difference. You have a future.

Embrace your womanhood, ladies, and follow God’s path with all your heart! I hope you will come back and read/discuss future posts about these topics!

Sincerely,

Lady Grace
